A time to Realize

Hoje, transformamos uma sala de aula em um tribunal. Experiencia maravilhosa. Julgamos a vida do personagem Carl Lee Hailey, acusado pelo assassinato de dois homens. Baseado no livro de John Grisham "A Time to Kill", a historia relata um fato que aconteceu a uma crianca de apenas dez anos de idade. Tania Hailey, estuprada pelos mesmos dois homens que seu respectivo pai, matou posteriormente. Sera que ele estava insano quando decidiu matar os dois homens, que estupraram e definitivamente, "roubaram" a inocencia de sua filha? Podemos considerar certo? O fato e que Tania Hailey, nunca mais poderar ter filhos, devido as fortes sequelas deixadas em seu pequeno e fragil corpo...
Neste tribunal, de aluna, me transformei em uma advogada de defesa, juntamente com mais dois colegas. Daniele e Nathaly. Uma parceria e tanto! A principio, nao posso dizer que foi tao facil assim. Principalmente por estar divida entre a culpa e a inocencia deste homem, deste pai de familia. Apesar de entender a forte motivacao que o levou a cometer estes crimes, ele nao tinha o direito de matar aqueles homens. Por mais repugnante e inadmissivel, o ato que ambos cometeram naquela crianca. Ou a qualquer outra que tivesse sido. Carla Lee Hailey fez justica com as proprias maos e teria que arcar com as consequencias do seu ato. Os mesmos argumentos que utilizei no "tribunal", estarao sendo escritos aqui para mostrar o Stament da defesa em questao. Atravez dele, conseguimos polpar uma vida de ser enviada para a cadeira eletrica. Com este Stament, possibilitamos que uma filha pudesse rever o seu pai e te-lo de volta em sua vida... mesmo apos ter vivido um fato que mudara a sua vida por completo.

Statment:

"Members of the jury, we know why we are all here, today. To judge a man accused for the muders of two men. But first, it is necessary to understand the motivation of the crime and remember quickly, how this awful story started."

"Rape is such a outrageous act against humanity. Especially when we are discusting about a

little girl that has been raped by two men. In our State (Mississipi, USA) this fact gets

worst because there is also the Racism issue. In this case, it is my responsability to

defend not just a father who tried to save the Honour of his ten years old daughter but

also fight against Racism.

Muder is also a crime. But in that moment, Carl Lee Hailey was blind with the anger and

legally insane. At the moment of the rape, his daughter was desperate and calling his name.

And he wasn't there to help her. It is not about revange. It is about a father who tried

to protect his little daughter and just couldn't. His anger drove him insane. Legally

insane.

It is easy to judge something that we didn't live or pass throught. What would you do if

was your own child? An innocent child? We put the defendant under a serious and careful

examinations about his sanity. Doctor Bass confirmed tha he was legally insane at the

moment of the muders.

What would you do if you were in Carl Lee Hailey's shoes? Who didn't comit a sin, trough

the first stone."
